There is nothing too complicated about what St Helens must do to gain momentum - complete their sets, kick well, chase hard and put Wigan under pressure.

There seems a bit more zip about them in these early tackles they are making.

We billed it as youth against experience and the youthful Wigan are absolutely schooling St Helens.

Three tries from Megan Willams, Mary Coleman and Emily Veivers and not a single point conceded.

Dreamland stuff for the Warriors. Nightmarish for the Saints.

They just seem to traditionally be able to go through process and take those metres and try to turn the screw.

They are probably starting to feel the scoreline pressure now. Probably the first time in a long time that Saints have been 18 points behind, especially with a nil against their name.

This will be unfamiliar. Wigan are asking questions they don't get asked.

That is an absolute monster of a kick from Isabel Rowe as she turns St Helens round again.

Wing Phoebe Hook is forced to kick the ball out behind the try line and Wigan will have a last crack before the break.

That pressure, that third set of six on the line ultimately payed off for Emily Veivers.

It's the first play, straight off the tap there. St Helens will be very disappointed with that. Their defensive line is set and Wigan have gone through like a knife through butter.

18 points, that's a very long way to come back from.

Saints are happy to grind out a game and can stay in it for long periods but they've got to start posting some points.

Wigan are just riding on the front foot so Saints are going to have to come to the party in these last 10 minutes to take a little bit of confidence into that half-time team talk.

A great break from Katie Mottershead through the middle as she sees a gap, but she is then guilty of trying to force a and the ball is turned over.

That is a sign that St Helens are under the cosh.

In the lead up to today's final, Wigan boss Denis Betts said that his side were not trying to replicate the men's game and hailed their successes this season to the attitude amongst his camp.

It's a good job the action on the field is pulsating in these early stages because I can't say the same for the weather.

It is spectacularly dull given the time of year. So much so that I can barely see my screen.

It's muggy, too. If we get some significant rain today, as has been forecast, then I get the feeling that could really affect all three finals.
