Championship promotion hopefuls Watford have continued to strengthen their side with the arrival of Netherlands defender Wesley Hoedt from Belgian side Anderlecht.
The 28-year-old signs a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Hornets.
Hoedt previously spent two seasons in England with Southampton, making 45 appearances for the Saints between 2017 and 2021.

the League One campaign.

This is feeling very much like the calm before the storm. To be fair the calm has been here for the entire day but there's enough potential deals simmering to suggest we could have an interesting night ahead.
the window shuts at 11pm, but deal sheets can be submitted after then so could be a late one for any big moves.

Barcelona sign... Gavi?published at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023
19:08 GMT 31 January 2023
Barcelona have kind of... signed their own player today?
They were, not for the first time, involved in a dispute with La Liga over registrations.
This time La Liga said they could not 18-year-old Gavi's new first-team contract because they are over budget. That would have meant him playing on as a B team player, as he has been all season, but with a low release clause and shorter contract.
The club went to a commercial court in Barcelona, who ruled that they can him,
La Liga has said it plans to appeal against that decision.
In the meantime Barcelona have given him the number six shirt. He had been wearing 30.

A back up for Partey should 100% be our priority before the window closes! Whether it be Tielemans or Caicedo. I don't think Jorginho is a good option but if we are planning on getting Rice in the summer why spend £70m on Caicedo when we could get Youri about half the price and use the left over for Declan Rice.

If Conor Gallagher is indeed staying at Chelsea this window, I wish him all the best of luck in competing for a place in that Chelsea midfield if they sign Enzo Fernandez.
What do Everton need to do on deadline day?published at 18:25 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

As the January transfer window enters its final day, we've been asking what business Everton still need to do between now and 23:00 GMT.
Here are some of your views:
Mike: Everton are in desperate need of goals and pace. A striker who can score double figures before the end of the season is essential and has been for years. We never replaced Lukaku and didn't replace Richarlison last season. We lack pace in midfield and are crying out for someone who will drive forward and link play up quickly. Big job on for Dyche.
Ian: Sign anyone from the tea lady upwards. Let’s have a completely clean slate.
James: Hopefully with the funds generated from the Anthony Gordon sale, we can bring in a couple of players for modest fees from Europe or the Championship. I sincerely hope after the money wasted on McNeil and Maupay that we have learnt our lesson on paying over the odds for Premier League cast-offs.
Rob: Desperately need someone to put the ball in the back of the net. Links with the Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Coventry excites me. He looks the whole package; strong, good with his feet and knows where the goal is! My only concern is that Coventry wouldn't want to lose him in January, especially if they still had eyes on the play-offs.
Chris: A proven goalscorer is a must! If they can also hold the ball up, be calm under pressure and link play, it would be perfect. A playmaker is wishful thinking. Gueye and Onana aren't working together and Iwobi is not going to thread that killer defence-splitting . Build the team around Onana, he is the one saving grace in this dire period.

Andy: Everton pretty much about to go full pity mode in their transfer strategy. like the team getting battered asking to swap a player from the opposition, “please city, Chelsea, Southampton, anyone loan us a player any player”
