What Liverpool have that Man City and Arsenal don't is a greater strength in depth in their squad.

You look at the goalkeeping position, Caoimhin Kelleher has always been outstanding, he's got a brilliant temperament. In many respects it was not a great surprise to see him save a penalty. Kylian Mbappe is normally lethal but had his boots on the wrong feet tonight.

You look at the right back position, Conor Bradley looked to have done his hamstring tonight but they have Trent Alexander-Arnold to come back in for Man City at the weekend.

I just worry about the injury to Ibrahima Konate. If he is fit for the weekend you have got to say that you fancy Liverpool really strongly.

Man City absolutely capitulated on Tuesday and they just look normal, like any other team. The wheels are off and it is so unusual for us to see that.

A full strength Liverpool are better than Man City at the moment but can we keep ruling them out? They are going to come good eventually aren't they?

Real Madrid are just above the elimination places as it stands but that probably means they will go on and win it doesn't it? You still wouldn't bet against them. Atalanta up next won't be easy either though.

Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who was named as UEFA's Man of the Match, speaking to TNT Sports: "When you play against teams like Real Madrid it is always nice to score but it is important that we won it. We dominated the game. We needed a couple of times this guy (Caoimhin Kelleher) and thank you we had him.

"When we say in the dressing room, we know players that come in are important to finish the games and you know if you want to win trophies you need them. Everyone does the best for the team."

Are Liverpool Champions League favourites? "It is nice but at the same time it means nothing. It is just the first phase. We are happy with our performances and that is the most important thing. We keep going."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins speaking to TNT Sports on the disallowed goal: "I think it was soft. Maybe in the Premier League, it's a goal. But in Europe, the goalkeepers are protected a lot. It's one of them.

"I thought we scored. But to be fair, this game had a 0-0 written all over it."

On the refereeing: "Obviously, I have to be careful talking about the referee. But it's different in this competition. But we are used to it now. Sometimes it goes against you and sometimes it goes in your favour.

On the result: "It's a positive result. The fans want to see a lot of goal and we do ourselves. But the most important thing was we didn't lose tonight.

"Juventus are a massive team and they played well. But we kept them out and now we move onto the weekend."

Liverpool will not be able to wait for the Man City game. When you are in such a run of form in the Premier League and Champions League you just want to keep playing and playing.

They will be back in training tomorrow and I would imagine it will be an amazing atmopshere, everyone will be laughing and joking.

At Anfield, in the position they are in, going up against a fragile Man City team at this moment in time, they will be excited and I bet they can't wait to play.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham speaking to TNT Sports: "I think to be fair, from the first minute they took control of the game. We never really maximised the spells we had in possession. We turned it over so much that they kept control. They were more up for it than us which is very disappointing to play. It is a bad result against the best-performing team in Europe. We are disappointed at how we have performed and it is important that win the next three games and give ourselves a chance to go through."

On Kylian Mbappe's missed penalty: "It can happen. He is a wonderful player but the pressure he holds because of how good he is is huge. The penalty is not why we lost the game. They performed better than us. I know that he will produce many more moments that will be huge for this club."

From a Celtic perspective a draw is not ideal. A lot of the ers would have thought that Brugge would have been a chance at three points.

But this is elite level competition and Celtic not performing at their very best and getting at least a point, takes them onto eight points, they probably need another win to guarantee getting through.

The point does represent some progress. No one said it was going to be easy.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports: "I am very happy because we won a point. We played a very competitive match. We were dominating the match to try to get three points.

"The last action is clear. It's the interpretation of the referee. We know in England, it's 80% not a foul, but in Europe, maybe not. For me it was harsh. In England, I know it's not a foul usually, because it was a very soft . But in Europe, it could be foul.

"I think the referee, in the beginning, he was giving it as goal. We have to accept his decision."

On the point earned: "We played a serious match. We played trying to avoid the mistakes we made from the last matches. We were playing better and I think we more or less deserved to win the match than them."

On Juventus' performance: "We analysed their play, they are building a team and are in the process. They are very competitive and very difficult to beat. They've only lost one match.

"But we wanted to play too. We were dominating them. We were getting into their box better and we had chances to score. They had the chance in the second half with that Emiliano Martinez save. I think it was very tight match for both teams. But I'm happy with the overall result. Three wins, one draw and one defeat is very good. We still have the possibility to get into the top eight."
